Terms of Service

Last updated: August 29, 2026

01Acceptance

By adding Barrier to a Discord server, or by interacting with Barrier in a server it's already in, you agree to these terms. If you're adding Barrier on behalf of a server, you're confirming you have the authority to do so.

02The service

Barrier is a Discord bot that provides automated raid detection, webhook protection, unauthorized bot detection, and an opt-in shared blacklist, along with related moderation utilities. Barrier operates only within Discord and only within servers it's been added to.

03Eligibility

You must meet Discord's own eligibility requirements (including its minimum age) to use Barrier, since Barrier is only accessible through Discord. These terms don't grant any rights beyond what Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines already allow.

04Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Barrier to harass, target, or retaliate against specific users or servers.
  • Attempt to disable, bypass, or exploit Barrier's protections in a server you don't control.
  • Use Barrier's commands to spam, mass-DM, or otherwise abuse other Discord users.
  • Reverse-engineer Barrier to extract data it holds about servers or users other than your own.

Violating this section may result in Barrier being removed from your server, or your account being added to the blacklist described below.

05Server admins

If you administer a server that adds Barrier, you're responsible for:

  • Granting Barrier only the permissions it needs to run the features you enable.
  • Understanding that enabling the global blacklist means your server will act on user IDs blacklisted by the Barrier team, not just ones you've personally reviewed.
  • Configuring a log channel if you want visibility into the actions Barrier takes automatically.

06Global blacklist

This is the part of Barrier with the most reach beyond a single server, so we're calling it out plainly. The Barrier team may add a user ID to a shared blacklist when there's a confirmed pattern of raiding or abuse. Servers that opt into the global blacklist feature will automatically act on that listing — which may include banning the user — without that server's admin personally reviewing the individual case first.

Blacklisting decisions are made by the Barrier team, can be appealed by contacting us (see Contact), and can be reversed. Enabling this feature is entirely optional and can be turned off at any time from your server's settings panel.

07Availability

Barrier is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime, and Barrier may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, or Discord platform issues outside our control.

08Limitation of liability

Barrier is provided free of charge, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Barrier team is not liable for any damages arising from your use of Barrier, including but not limited to moderation actions taken automatically (bans, kicks, timeouts, channel locks), missed detections, or false positives.

09Termination

You may remove Barrier from your server at any time. We may remove Barrier from a server, or refuse to provide the service to a user, at our discretion — most commonly for violations of these terms or of Discord's own Terms of Service.

10Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Meaningful changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Barrier after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
